To Bangsar we will go…

When? 27 July 2007, Where? Bangsar Sports Complex, What? Joint meeting with Rotaract Club of Bangsar
It had been some time since we went to visit and have a joint meeting with another Rotaract Club, so we thought why not?

Warmly welcomed by the Bangsar rotaractors (they also cleverly got us all RM3 poorer in their fining game!), this meeting was also special as it featured the induction of another newbie - Ms Crystal Loh, the bubbly former interactor.

Fellow rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of Melawati also dropped in and fellowship for the night was dinner & July birthday baby celebration at HSBC Restaurant (no relation to the bank) and later, the brave headed to Telawi area for clubbing at Moksha (really, how could we not, it’s Bangsar on a Friday night!).

A memorable first meeting of the term…

 

When? 14 July 2007, Where? Pahang Room, Shangri-la Hotel KL.  
The Indian Record holder for “most phenomenal memory” was our speaker for the day. Mr Anant Kasibhatla shared with us the tips and tricks to strengthening our memory power and remembering things. After the introductory demonstration where he remembered a long list of random numbers (he was able to say it backwards too), we were all hooked to his every word. With his humor, interesting techniques and openness to share, Anant’s talk was definitely a memorable one.

All that memory stuff made us hungry, so 11 of us headed down to Berjaya Times Square for a chow and then catch Artificial (or is it Alien?) Intelligence go head to head as the Decepticons battle with the Megatrons in Transformers!

Ushering in a new term in style!

What? Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur Diraja Installation Nite

Our parent club, The Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur Diraja had their installation ceremony smack at the turn of the terms. Guests were asked to dress in their national costumes (in line with Malaysia’s 50th Independence year) and this lent an even more merrier feel to the whole stylish event.

We were also on hand to witness the installation of Rotary President Attan Akmar and his board of directors for the term 2007/08. President Attan has long been a familiar face to us, having showed his constant and strong support towards rotaract as well as attending our events.

Highlights of the event included the performance by the Rotarians in rendering a Jamaican sounding Day-Oh song that got us all singing along. The night ended with some of us showing off some nifty classic dance moves (and some of us attempting to…hehehe!)
